Ben Shapiro is an American media host, columnist, political commentator, and also known as an author. He became the youngest nationally syndicated columnist in the United States at the age of 17. He founded in 2015 and became the editor-in-chief in the American news and opinion website The Daily Wire, and has written a total of eleven books.
Early Life
Benjamin Aaron Shapiro was born on January 15, 1984 in Los Angeles, California. Both of his parents worked in Hollywood. His father worked as a composer while his mother was an executive of a television company. His family is an Orthodox Jewish family of Russian-Jewish and Lithuanian-Jewish ancestry.
Shapiro attended Walter Reed Middle School to Yeshiva University High School, and graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science in the University of California, Los Angeles in 2004, and then a cum laude in 2007 from Harvard Law School.
Career
Shapiro joined KRLA-AM 870 as a host on their morning radio program in 2012. In 2016, he became one of the hosts for the consecutive radio show KRLA's "The Morning Answer". Despite of experiencing such pressure from Salem Media executives about supporting Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential election, Shapiro remained highly critical of Trump during the election. On September 2015, he founded the news and opinion website "The Daily Wire", with Boreing. He was the host of his famous online political podcast "The Ben Shapiro Show".
He stepped down from his role as an editor-in-chief in June 2020, and held the role of editor emeritus. In 2018, Shapiro started hosting "The Ben Shapiro Election Special", and made appearances on "PragerU" that talks about intersectionality and Hollywood that gained almost 8.4 million views.
Shapiro spoke in 37 campuses across the United States between early 2016 to 2017. In his speeches, he frequently presents a conservative viewpoint to controversial subjects. In one of his speeches, an incident happened where a a protester pulled the fire alarm, which leads Shapiro being escorted out by the campus police.
Personal Life
Shapiro married his wife, Mor Toledano, an Israeli medical doctor, in the year 2008. The couple practice Orthodox Judaism, and they have two daughters and a son. The family lived in Los Angeles.
