Early Life
David Wayne Spade was born on July 22, 1964 in Birmingham, Michigan. He attended Saguaro High School and Scottsdale Community College. He transferred to Arizona State University and earned his business degree in 1986. In college, he used to perform stand-up comedy at the University's Farce Side Comedy Hour.
Spade made his acting debut in 1987 for the movie Police Academy 4. His big break came when he became part of the TV show Saturday Night Live (SNL) in 1990 as writer and cast until 1996. He earned different recognition for his contribution for SNL. He is also part of the long-running sitcom Just Shoot Me, which runs from 1997-2003. The show revolves around the staff of the fictional magazine Blush.
He then played as Russell Dunbar in the sitcom Rules of Engagement, which ran from 2007-2013. Dunbar is a narcissistic and womanizer single friend of Jeff Bingham (Patrick Warburton). The show focuses on how the characters deal with the issues on dating, marriage, and commitment.
Movies
In 1995, he starred as Richard in the comedy film Tommy Boy with SNL co-star Chris Farley. The movie focuses on the journey of Richard (an accountant) and Tommy Boy (Farley) to save the latter's family auto-parts business. They also starred in Black Sheep in 1996. Spade co-starred with Adam Sandler, Kevin James, and Rob Schnider for the 2010 film Grown Ups. He played the role of Marcus Higgins, a man who is a slacker and is sexaully juvenile.
