Gabriel Jesus was born in São Paulo, Brazil. During his youth career he played for a few different clubs, with Associação Atlética Anhanguera being his final amateur team.

It did not take long for Jesus to make his senior team debut. Coach Oswaldo de Oliveira gave Jesus his long awaited opportunity on 7th March 2015, where he came on in the later stages of a 1-0 victory over CA Bragantino. Jesus would go on to help Palmeiras win the Copa De Brazil and the Brasileirão.
