Nick Cannon is an American rapper, comedian, television host, and actor. He is known for hosting several television shows like Wild n' Out, The Nick Cannon Show, America's Got Talent, Lip Sync Battle Shorties, and The Masked Singer.
In 2003, he released his debut self-titled album with the single, Gigolo. As an actor, he acted in the films Love Don't Cost a Thing, Roll Bounce, and Drumline.
Early Life
Nicholas Scott Cannon was born on October 8, 1980 in San Diego, California and grew up in Lincoln's Park Bay Vista Housing Projects. He was raised by his paternal grandfather. In his teenage years, he was involved in an affiliation with the "Lincoln Park Bloods" street gang. Cannon said that he left his affiliations after losing a close friend.
He attended Monte Vista High School in Spring Valley and graduated in 1998.
Career
In 2001, after signing with Jive Records, he was featured with Romeo Miller and 3LW on the Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius soundtrack. in 2003, Cannon's debut self-titled album was released with the single, Your Pops Don't Like Me (I Really Don't Like This Dude). Cannon created a new label, N'Credible Entertainment, in the year 2009, after cancelling his old label Can-I-Ball Records.
On July 2013, he announced that he was working on a new second studio album featuring collaborations with Pitbull, Afrojack, Polow da Don, and Future. On November 16, 2016, he released his second mixtape, The Gospel of Ike Turn Up: My Side of the Story. On the following month, Cannon released the single, Hold On, on iTunes.
On December 9, 2019, Cannon released "The Invitation", an Eminem diss track and a response to Eminem's feature on Fat Joe and Dre's Family Ties, dissing Cannon. He later on released a second diss track "Pray For Him", after Eminem responded to him with two tweets.
Other Ventures
In the year 2005, Cannon produced, created, and hosted the MTV improv comedy series, Wild n' Out. He also hosted the first and only season of Nickelodeon's Friday Night Slimetime. Cannon hosted the Nickelodeon HALO Awards on December 11, 2009, together with Hayden Panettiere, Lebron James, Alicia Keys, Kelly Rowland, and Justin Timberlake.
He also hosted the annual American competitive eating competition, Nathan's Hotdog Eating Contest on July 4, 2011. In 2014, he started hosting the documentary reality television show, Caught on Camera with Nick Cannon on NBC. Cannon also hosted the famous talent show competition, America's Got Talent, from 2009 to 2016.
Cannon hosted the morning show on January 19, 2010, with co-hosts Southern Sarah Lee and Nikki at 92.3 NOW FM (WXRK-FM) in New York.
Cannon announced on July 13, 2010, that he was joining a comedy tour in fall 2010, starting at the Just For Laughs festival in Montreal.
In 2009, Cannon was the chairman, development and creative consultant of Nickelodeon's channel, TeenNick. He created a sketch-comedy series in 2012, Incredible Crew, where he wrote and produced the theme song. The series was produced by Cartoon Network Studios, in associated with the N'credible Entertainment, and lasted for 13 episodes before it got cancelled.
Personal Life
On April 30, 2008, Cannon married singer-songwriter, Mariah Carey. On their third wedding anniversary, April 30, 2011, Carey gave birth to a fraternal twins, daughter Monroe and son, Moroccan Scott. The two got separated and filed for divorce in 2014, after six years of marriage. On 2016, the divorced got finalized.
Cannon had a son to model Brittany Bell, born on February 21, 2017. On December 2020, their daughter Powerful Queen, was born.
In 2016, he enrolled at Howard University where he took a bachelor's degree in Criminology/Administration of Justice and a minor in Africana Studies, and graduated in 2020.
