Paul Stanley is a musician, singer, songwriter, and painter. He is known for being the rhythm guitarist and co-lead vocalist of the rock band Kiss. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014 as an original member of Kiss.

Stanley Bert Eisen was born on January 20, 1952 in Manhattan, New York. He was born with microtia, a congenital deformity where the external ear is underdeveloped. This affected his hearing.
Stanley attended High School of Music & Art in New York City because of his talent for graphic arts. He graduated in 1970, but abandoned his career to pursue his music career.

When the band fell apart, Stanley and Simmons along with Peter Criss and Ace Frehley founded the band Kiss. They released their first album, Kiss, in 1974. Most of the band’s big hits are written or co-written by him.
Stanley portrayed The Starchild persona in Kiss, in which he displayed one star over his right eye. He also tried to portray The Bandit, a Lone Ranger style mask design make-up pattern, from 1973-1974.
In 1978, he released his self-titled debut studio album as a solo artist. It took years before he released his next albums, Live to Win (2006) and One Live Kiss (2008). He played the Phantom in the 1999 production of The Phantom of the Opera.

Stanley was born with a disability called microtia, in which his right ear is deformed. At the age of 30, he had undergone reconstructive surgery for his ear under Dr. Frederic Rueckert. The new ear was formed from his ribs’ cartilage and skin grafts over it. As a sign of his gratefulness for Dr. Rueckert, he had given him a Rolex watch.
