Richard Rawlings is an American entrepreneur, car builder, and media personality. He appeared as the star of the television show Fast N' Loud. He is the owner of the Gas Money Garage, Gas Monkey Bar N' Grill, and Gas Monkey Live.
Early Life
Rawlings was born on March 30, 1969, in Forth Worth, Texas. When he was a kid, he used to go to auto shows with his father and help him in building cars. He purchased his first car at the age of 14. When he turned 16, he already bought several cars and also sold some. In 1987, he graduated from Eastern Hills High School and took different jobs like firefighter, law enforcement officer, and paramedic.
Career
Rawlings operated his own printing and advertising company Lincoln Press, in 1999. In 2002, he open his own auto shop Gas Monkey Garage, and sold his printing and advertising company in 2004. The auto shop became a world-famous shop and has been the subject of the reality television show "Fast N' Loud" in Discovery Channel. Rawlings also was the co-host of the show "Garage Rehab", since 2017 on Discovery Channel, together with co-hosts Russell Holmes and Chris Stephens. The show is about rebuilding and helping struggling automotive shops.
In September 2013, Rawlings started his first restaurant Gas Monkey Bar N' Grill in Northwest Dallas. In March 2014, he opened his second branch at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.
Gas Monkey Live was opened in October 2014. The Gas Monkey Live is a music venue intended to live music. In 2019, Rawlings licensed the Gas Monkey brand to create a line of energy drinks.
Personal Life
Rawlings married Karen Grames in 1990, but divorce the next year. In 1999, he married Suzanne Marie Mergele, his second wife. The two divorced in year 2009, but remarried later in 2015. Rawlings announced publicly in his social media account in March 2019, that the two were separating will file for divorce.
In August 2019, he proposed to Katerina Deason, his girlfriend, and announced in social media their engagement, stating love at first sight.
