Steve Kerr is an American basketball coach and a former NBA basketball player. During his NBA career as a player, he is known for his three-point shooting. He won three NBA championships for Chicago Bulls and two for San Antonio Spurs. Being a coach, he led the Golden State Warriors to championships in 2015, 2017, and 2018.

Stephen Douglas Kerr was born on September 27, 1965 in Beirut, Lebanon. His father, Malcolm, is a Middle East political expert while his mother, Ann is a homemaker. He attended Cairo American University in Egypt then transferred to Pacific Palisades High School. Wearing a #25 jersey, he played for the University of Arizona from 1983 to 1988. He graduated from the University with a Bachelor’s degree of General Studies in 1988.
Kerr played for the USA Basketball team in the summer of 1986 in the FIBA World Championship in Spain. The team was composed of amateur players but won a gold medal.

Kerr was selected by the Phoenix Suns in the 1988 NBA draft and was traded to Cleveland Cavaliers in 1989. He signed up with the Chicago Bulls in 1993. He helped the team win the 1997 NBA championship against the Utah Jazz. His championship with the Bulls marked his most historic moment in his playing career. He also won the 3-point shootout at the 1997 All-Star Game. In 1998, he was traded to the San Antonio Spurs. He won two championships with the Spurs.
