Tim Burton's artistic talent was recognized by many prestigious award giving bodies like Academy Awards and BAFTA Awards earning nominations for Best Animated Feature and Best Film. Burton started out his career as an animator for Disney. His talent was recognized and gave him his first break to make the short animated movie "Vincent" which happened to be a success and gained several awards. Another successful movie that he directed was "Pee-wee's Big Adventure". It was a surprise success and made him instantly popular. After this big break, Burton wanted to do something new. He stopped making films for three years until he read the script of Beetlejuice. Beetlejuice was a low budget film and yet grossed $80 million and won an Academy Award for Best Make-up. It was another big hit and that solidified his name in Hollywood.
Following the success of Beetlejuice, he was entrusted to do a big budget film, Warner Bros.' Batman. The film was a monster success. It is Burton's biggest box-office hit grossing over $400 million at the global box office. This box-office success became an inspiration to the success also of its animated version, Batman: The Animated Series.

Early Life
Tim Burton was a loner. He finds pleasure in painting, drawing cartoons and watching old movies. Burton has an amazing skill for drawing and animation. After he graduated high school, he enrolled at California Institute of Arts and took up character animation. He later joined Disney animation division after being offered an apprenticeship at the studio.

Tim Burton was married to Lena Gieseke in 1987 and got divorced in 1991. In 1993, he went on to live with actress Lisa Marie Smith and decided to separate ways in 2001. From 2001, Burton developed a romantic relationship with actress Helena Bonham Carter whom he had two children with but then amicably broke up in 2014. Burton and Bonham Carter never officially confirmed if they legally married.
