Tim Ferriss is an American entrepreneur, author, investor, and a podcaster. He is best known for his podcast, "The Tim Ferriss Show". Ferriss has written five books, and is also a pre-seed money advisor to Uber.
Early Life
Timothy Ferriss was born on July 20, 1977 in East Hampton, New York. Ferriss was born premature, and was raised in his hometown. He attended high school in the highly selected prep school St. Paul's School in Concord, New Hampshire, and Princeton University in college, where he graduated with an A.B. East Asian studies in 2000.
Career
After Ferriss graduated from college, he worked in sales at a data storage company. He started his own online company "BrainQUICKEN" while still employed at the data storage company. The online company was established in 2001, and sold nutritional supplements over online.
Ferriss has written a total of five books: The 4-Hour Workweek (2007), The 4-Hour Body (2010), The 4-Hour Chef (2012), Tools of Titans (2016), and Tribes of Mentors (2017). Both "The 4-Hour Workweek" and "The 4-Hour Body" were at number 1 New York Times bestsellers.
He is a pre-seed money advisor to the company Uber and is considered as an angel investor and advisor for startups like Shopify, Trippy, Reputation.com, StumbleUpon, TaskRabbit, DailyBurn, Posterous, and Evernote. Ferriss was listed by New York Times as among their "Notable Angel Investors", and "one of the planet's leading angel investors in technology", stated by CNN.
In 2013, his "The Tim Ferriss Experiment" television series debuted on channel HLN, where he makes an effort to learn new skills in a short period of time using his own methods and with the help of experts within the field. It featured the skills like surfing, parkour, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, professional poker, and including foreign language learning. The show lasted for 13 episodes before it was cancelled.
