As of 2022, Barker is estimated to have a net worth of $82 million. Most of this money comes from music royalties and assets (primarily his large real estate portfolio) and investments.

It's no surprise that Barker profits from the work of his band, Blink-182.

Music Royalties

Barker has been a part of music projects outside of Blink-182, including +44, the Transplants, Box Car Racer, The Aquabats, and TRV$DJAM.

He has also launched two record companies. In 2004, he launched LaSalle Records and in 2019 he launched DTA Records, which has already signed a number of high-profile artists.

Barker gets a share of the revenue from all of these projects, often being listed as a songwriter or producer. These royalties have made Barker one of the highest-earning musicians in the world.

Outside of his success in music, Barker has built an impressive real estate profile.

In 2007, Travis Barker bought a home in Calabasas, California for $9.5 million.

In 2017, Barker sold a 4-bedroom home in Cheviot Hills for $4.5 million. That same year, he purchased a $2.8 million mansion in Calabasas, California which he is now renting out for $27,000 a month.

Travis Barker Early Life

Travis Landon Barker was born on November 14, 1975, in Fontana, California.

His father Randy was a mechanic and his mother Gloria was a babysitter. Barker also had two older sisters.

Childhood

When Barker was four-years-old, Gloria purchased a drum kit for him. Barker would later admit that Animal from the Muppets was one of his greatest influences at the time. His parents signed him up for drum lessons a year later, after seeing how much potential their child had.

Drummer Thomas Hogan taught Barker to drum. Barker also took trumpet lessons, learned to play the piano, and briefly enrolled in a choir. In junior high, Barker joined his first band, Necromancy.

High School

Sadly, Gloria passed away one day before Barker was to start high school, from a battle with sjögren's syndrome. One of the last things she did was encourage Barker to continue playing the drums and pursuing his dreams.

In high school, Barker enjoyed skateboarding and surfing but he knew he was most passionate about drumming. He played drums in the marching band at Fontana High School and played in the jazz ensemble. He also became a vegetarian.

Travis Barker Career

After graduating, Barker briefly worked as a trash man.

His first big band was a group called Feeble. In 1996, his bandmate Chad Larson invited him to join a new band called Aquabats. Barker would go on to record one album with Aquabats, who then toured with Blink-182.

Barker was asked to fill in for Blink-182's drummer Scott Raynor after he left the band.

He managed to learn and perfect 20 songs in just 45 minutes. Bandmates Tom DeLonge and Mark Hoppus were impressed and in 1998 Barker became the permanent drummer of the band.

Enema of the State

Enema of the State was the first album Barker recorded with Blink-182.

Released in 1999, the album included hit songs "All the Small Things", "What's My Age Again?" and "Adam's Song". "All the Small Things" hit number one on the Modern Rock Tracks Chart and number six on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. Its video also received an MTV Video Award in 2000.

In 1999, the band toured the album but Barker was forced to sit much of the tour out due to a broken finger.

To date, Enema of the State has sold more than 15 million copies.

In 2001, Blink-182 released the album, Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, which included songs like "The Rock Show" and "First Date". The album debuted at #1 on Billboard's 200 list and earned triple platinum status in just a few weeks.

The band went on to release Blink-182, which they chose to record in a home studio. The album featured hit songs "Feeling This" and "I Miss You". "I Miss You" was certified gold after selling 500,000 copies.

Additional Music Projects

In 2002, DeLonge and Barker formed a band called Box Car Racer as a side project. Although their debut album was well received, the project seemed to cause tension with Hoppus, who was not included in the project.

Barker also started performing with Transplants, a supergroup formed by Tim Armstrong of the band Rancid.

Then, in 2005, Blink-182 announced an "indefinite hiatus" amidst rumors that DeLonge and Hoppus were feuding. This time, Hoppus and Barker would form a band, called +44.

Barker had launched his label LaSalle records in 2004, and was working with several artists including Transplants and Asher Roth. He was also spending time with his close friend Adam Goldstein (DJ AM). Together, they launched a collaboration project called TRV$DJAM.

Plane Crash

On September 19, 2008, Barker boarded a private plane in Columbia, South Carolina with Goldstein, personal assistant Chris Baker and security guard Che Still. Tragically, the plane crashed into an embankment during take-off and it burst into flames.

Barker and Goldstein were the only two survivors. They were rushed to Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta, Georgia where Barker was treated for burns on 65% of his body. He endured 26 surgeries and skin grafts.

The tragic incident prompted Barker to become much more health-conscious, overcoming an addiction to painkillers and opting for a vegan lifestyle. Unfortunately, the trauma also prevented him from taking an airplane for 13 years.

The plane crash prompted DeLonge and Hoppus to reunite with Barker and in 2011, they released the album, Neighborhoods. In 2016, Blink-182 would release California and in 2019, they released the album Nine. However, DeLonge had parted ways with the band again in 2015.

At the time of writing this, there is speculation the group may be planning another reunion.

The record label has already achieved success, signing popular artists Avril Lavigne, Machine Gun Kelly, and JXDN.
